Craig:
I am a NRA certified firearms instructor. The areas of my certifications are in: Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Muzzle loading Rifle, Home firearm safety, Personal Protection in the Home, and am a Range Safety Officer. I am also a State of Wisconsin Firearms Certifier.
I started shooting at age 7 when my grandfather taught me how to shoot my trusty Red Ryder BB gun. I started shooting 22 rifles and 410 and 28 gauge shotguns at age 8; by age 12 I started shooting competitively at Waukesha Gun Club. I started competing in the WTA in 1999 and competed until 2008. My whole life has pretty much revolved around the shooting industry. I have had an opportunity to shoot many different types of firearms in my life. This gives me an advantage in helping people pick out a firearm that is right for their shooting goals. In 2008, I decided to move my shooting career forward by becoming a NRA certified firearms instructor.
I also have taken the NRA range building course at the NRA headquarters in Fairfax, VA. I wanted to learn what it takes to build an Indoor and Outdoor shooting range and what it takes to maintain a shooting range facility. I am qualified to help people in their quest to find a property, look at drawings, and determine location for ranges.
My goal is to help people by teaching them the proper, safe handling of firearms and to help them become comfortable, and safety conscious so they can feel confident in their handling of firearms.
I love to teach firearm classes and especially to people that have never handled a firearm and are very uncertain of what they need to do to become comfortable. It is very exciting for me to see how people change as the class moves on and how their attitude and confidence starts to build.
It is extremely important to me to teach safety as the main initial focus on the proper handling of Firearms.
Proper safety is the most important thing to learn first. Once you have taken all the steps to be safe in the handling of your firearm you are ready to move forward with your firearm training.
If everyone took safety as the most important part of proper firearms handling we would not have half the incidents you hear about with firearms.
This is why I decided to open Freedom Arms Unlimited!!
