Welcome to NRA Instructor Level Courses
If you are interested in becoming a certified instructor and would like to teach citizens the proper knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for owning and shooting firearms safely this may be for you. NRA Instructor Certifications allow you to teach NRA courses in all fifty states. All NRA Instructor Courses are taught by NRA Training Counselors. By becoming an NRA Instructor not only are you helping teach responsible firearm skills and ownership you can earn money while doing it. 


To Qualify to become an instructor:
  • Candidates must demonstrate a solid background in the knowledge of firearms safety and operation of all firearms that are used in the discipline that they wish to teach. All candidates should have previous firearms training and shooting experience before becoming and instructor.
  • Candidates must demonstrate proper and safe gun handling skills in order to be successful. Candidates will also have to fill out pre-course questioners and complete qualification exercises given by NRA Training Counselors.
  • Candidates must successfully complete the NRA Instructor Course of the discipline they wish to teach (e.g. NRA Basic Rifle Course) and must receive the endorsement of there Training Counselor. 
NRA Instructor Courses are specific to each discipline. Instructor candidates will learn while in class public speaking skills, the use of training aids and proper terminology, NRA policy's and procedures,  how to organize a course, build a budget for the course, and how to prepare to teach the course, and much more! Candidates will receive an instructor packet that includes appropriate Lesson Plans and Outlines, Basic Course Student handbooks, certificates, basic student examinations, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification Program booklet, Basic Firearm Training Programs Brochure, Gun Safety Rules brochure, NRA Trainer's Examination and NRA discipline specific instructor examination (minimum passing grade is 90%). All candidates that wish to become an instructor must complete the NRA Trainers Guide first.
